Disney Announces Even More Star Wars Details for Hollywood Studios, but is Season of the Force Still Coming?

Shanghai_Disneyland_Star_Wars_Launch_BayIn addition to last week’s Star Wars announcements, Disney has announced even more Star Wars additions coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in January. Beginning January 5th, 2016, Guests will also have a chance to sample some of the Galactic Food! Remember the blue milk from Episode IV? Well now Blue Milk Panna Cotta will be served to Guests, along with Padawan Limeade, BB-8 Lemon and Butter Cream cupcakes, and even a Han Solo Souvenir Kid’s Meal. The location of these treats hasn’t been announced yet, but I imagine you’ll be able to find some, if not all of the items at various locations around the park, since I’m sure they will be quite popular among Guests.

Also throughout the day, Guests may have a chance to encounter a First Order Stormtrooper Patrol walking around. The Stormtroopers will be out on patrol looking for members of the Resistance.

But that’s not all! Guests will also be able to end their day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with “Symphony in the Stars: A Galactic Spectacular.’’ The new fireworks show will feature Star Wars themed pyrotechnics set to the famous Star Wars music from the saga. Here’s to hoping it isn’t just the same fireworks show we saw at the last two Star Wars Weekends. The fireworks show, which was originally announced to only be presented on weekends during the previously announced Season of the Force, seems to now be happening every night since the 5th is a Tuesday. Could something have happened to Season of the Force?

Disney has said they will also be offering a dessert party during the fireworks, which comes as no surprise since dessert parties have become a staple for Disney over the last few years, especially at the Studios park. The dessert party will feature themed desserts, specialty drinks (safe to bet one or two alcoholic offerings as well), and a souvenir Chewbacca stein. No price has been given yet, but I expect it to be anywhere from $68-$99 as per usual.

Now, onto the suspicions and Rumor Mill. Back at D23, Disney announced Season of the Force; a new seasonal experience for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disneyland’s Season of the Force seems to be almost all up and running with Hyperspace Mountain (the retheming of their Space Mountain to Star Wars) has already opened. Last week, Disney announced more details for the Star Wars Launch Bay at the Studios park, which is set to open December 1st, as well as a new adventure for Star Tours, Path of the Jedi video inside ABC Sound Studio, and Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple show, all coming in December. In fact, the Star Tours addition has already had a soft opening. Along with these announcement, Season of the Force was still officially scheduled to begin Friday, January 8th with what is presumed to be the additions announced above. HOWEVER, it now seems as though Season of the Force may not be coming to WDW! I know, this is a huge suspicion and of course nothing has been announced by Disney. But with Disney gradually rolling out each of these new Star Wars additions to the Studios park, could it be possible the event won’t really exist as an ‘event’?

It seems like we are still getting everything that would’ve come with CO8wfkqWoAAjUrASeason of the Force, but now everything starts three days earlier and the fireworks show is every night as opposed to just the weekends. Whatever the case is, one thing is for sure, Star Wars Weekends is definitely not returning. So why the date changes? Why the announcement of details with no mention of Season of the Force? Something may have changed and we have to just wait and see.
