Disney’s Animal Kingdom Announced to (Finally) Get a Signature Dining Restaurant
Since its opening in 1998, Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been quite the quandary among Guests with its lacking of things which are offered at every other Disney park, such as night time entertainment, very few rides, and a very small selection of dining options. Well, 18 years later, Walt Disney World has announced it will finally be adding a new signature restaurant for Guests to enjoy at Disney’s Animal Kingdom later this year.
Joining the ranks of the other signature restaurants, such as The Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Cinderella’s Royal Table at the Magic Kingdom, and the few scattered around the World Showcase at Epcot, the new restaurant will be named Tiffins. We haven’t been given many details about the new dining location, which comes as no surprise. However, we do have a small description released on the Disney Parks Blog stating:
Tiffins will celebrate the art of traveling, featuring a diverse menu drawing from places that inspired the creation of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Open for both lunch and dinner, Tiffins will also include waterfront views from comfortable indoor and outdoor seating areas.
There is no exact word on what is being planned for the menu at Tiffins restaurant, but we do know the meaning behind the name. A “tiffin” is an Indian English word for a midday meal or a type of container used to carry food while traveling. Sounds pretty interesting to me and this could provide some clues as to what type of cuisine the restaurant will serve.
There is no mention of where exactly the restaurant will be located but from the concept art and the fact that it will have waterfront views is a good clue. It’ll definitely be located in ether Africa or Asia, but since it’ll have a waterfront view, I imagine they’ll place it somewhere near Expedition Everest since that lake area is the largest body of water at the park. Whatever the case, I am very excited to finally be getting more dining location options at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
With the new Rivers of Light nighttime offering & a night version of Kilimanjaro Safari opening mid-2016, Pandora: The World of Avatar coming in 2017 (2018?) and now this new restaurant, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is definitely becoming a whole new park and growing by leaps and bounds!
