Breaking and Unsurprising News: Disney Announced an Offical Closing Date for Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Car Stunt Show
In completely unsurprising news, Disney announced earlier this morning the 10 year old car stunt show, Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, will be closing forever on April 2, 2016, a month shy of its 11th birthday.
The popular stunt show was “brought over” from its original home in Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris and duplicated at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2005 as part of the Happiest Celebration on Earth festival which was marking Disneyland’s 50th anniversary. Along with that came Soarin’ from Disney’s California Adventure as well, now one of the most popular attractions in all of Walt Disney World.
Lights, Motors Action! is closing to make way for the new lands announced coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land. Construction is said to begin soon at the park. Other locations in the back area of the park have already closed to make way for the construction, such as the Premiere Theater and the Cars and Phineas & Ferb character meet and greets. With this year being the final year for The Spectacle of Dancing Lights, it’s only a matter of time before Streets of America closes as well.
The entire area is will eventually be replaced with Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land. It will be the largest expansion Disney’s Hollywood Studios has ever had. No opening date or timeline has been announced yet.
Star Wars Land will transport Guests to a brand new, original planet with new experiences that’ll include a customized secret mission on the Millennium Falcon and an epic adventure that puts everyone in the middle of a climactic battle. A second attraction was announced as well, but with few details. Bob Iger has said the ride technology for the new attractions will be nothing that’s ever been seen before, so expectations are high.
Toy Story Land will shrink Guests down in size where they can explore Andy’s backyard and see the famous little green aliens from the movie as they take you for a spin in their very own flying saucers. There will also be a family-friendly roller coaster themed to Slinky Dog and a third track added to Toy Story’s Midway Mania.
