Zootopia Comes to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

It seems that even though The Magic of Disney Animation building has been turned in Star Wars Launch Bay, we may still be able to see concept art for upcoming Disney animation films, at least we 12666407_10153871576134437_1878619471_ncan for Zootopia!  Recently, Disney installed a small pop-up area exhibit for the upcoming film at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  Located inside the Conservation Station building at Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Guests now have the chance to learn more about how the animators researched real animals to figure out how they would act in the Zootopia world.

If you’ve never been to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, it is a pretty neat location in the park that is only accessible via train ride.  The train station is located right next to the entrance to Kilimanjaro Safari.  Here, you can explore a petting zoo, meet Rafiki and other characters, as well as learn more about our planet and its nature and animals.  If you’re lucky, you may get the chance to hear an animal keeper give a presentation about a specific animal which they’ll bring out, or see an animal being taken care of behind glass walls.

As for the Zootopia exhibit, it was very interesting to learn how the animators researched all of the animals that will be in the film by visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom and traveling abroad.  They wanted to figure out how the animals would look standing up and walking on two legs.  They needed to think of ways how each animal would fit in within this new world and how they’d interact with each other.  Check out the photos below!

Zootopia opens in theaters March 4th!
