Bands, Brew, & BBQ Returns to SeaWorld Orlando with Smash Mouth!
Yesterday, SeaWorld kicked off its annual event, Bands, Brew, & BBQ with good crowds, local bands, and Smash Mouth! This is only one of many seasonal events SeaWorld Orlando provides throughout the year and it is definitely one of their most popular events, especially for their Annual Passholder. The event runs on Saturdays and Sundays from February 13 through March 6. For this year, SeaWorld is aiming to make the event feel more like a local festival for families as you’ll see from the entrance banner.
SeaWorld has partnered up with both Orlando Harley-Davidson and Mid-Florida Mustang Club to set up some nice motorcycle and car exhibits. Each is located on the ends of the event area.
For the event, Guests can also purchase package deals for food & drinks and seating for the concerts.
There are multiple kinds of packages for the day. First, are the samplers. For just $20, Guests can purchase a BBQ tasting sampler where they can choose up to five menu sampler size items at any food location. Next is a craft beer sampler where Guests can sample 10 out of the 30+ craft beers provided for $30. And lastly, there is a combo BBQ and craft beer sampler which is considered the best value at $35. With this package, Guests are able to sample five menu items and five craft beer samples.
The next kind of packages are VIP experiences. For $24, Guests can purchase the concert floor seating & Quick Queue which come with unlimited Quick Queue on all rides. Then for $40, Guests can receive VIP front row seating at the concert, a BBQ sampler, and an unlimited Quick Queue.
And as always, SeaWorld provides discounts for active duty and veterans. This military discount offers 50% off the 2016 Fun Card, which is a pass for the rest of the year and the same price as a one-day ticket. Military also get 10% off special sampler packages.
In previous years, this was an excellent way to be able to sample local barbecue restaurants, as well as SeaWorld’s own. However, for some unknown reason, SeaWorld decided to keep it all in-house this year and does not feature any local establishments. But even with keeping it solely to SeaWorld’s offerings, there is still plenty of options to choose from!
At stop #1, the Fieldhouse Eatery, they serve corn chip chili pie, grilled pizza, and a pulled pork sundae bowl. All Fired Up, #2, serves fried pickles and jalapenos. For more entree type BBQ, head over to #3, the Smokehouse Tavern for BBQ chicken, spare ribs, and pulled pork, or #4, the Blazin’ Grill for Italian sausage, hot dogs, and a Southwest burger. But don’t forget about salty and sweet options. Stop at #5, Comfort Kitchen for a brisket waffle cone, chicken waffle cone, or warm apple crisp. Food pricing ranges from $7-$17. And of course there is plenty of options to choose from for craft beer and even liquor!
While you’re enjoying your food and drinks, there is a smaller stage for local bands to play on, as well as a DJ in between sets. And with the ample seating, it’s a great way to relax and take in the atmosphere and entertainment.
Don’t for get to explore the many merchandise options they have. There is merchandise for both the beer and wine lover, as well as Man Cave items, which are always fun to look at. And passholders get 30% off their entire purchase!
Returning for 2016 is the USO family garden; a family friend, patriotic-themed area which features animal encounters, explore zones and a kid-friend interactive host! Guests of all ages are able to meet and learn about the animals while relaxing in a slightly quieter area with ample seating. The area is just off to the right before you reach Bayside Stadium.
Once it’s time, head over to Bayside Stadium for the main stage and wait for whichever band you’re there to see. This past weekend was Smash Mouth and Gladys Knight. The stadium opens very early, so keep that in mind if you want a close seat! SeaWorld provides from pre-concert entertainment with their own percussion group which the audience loves.
And finally, at 4pm, the band comes out. I got the chance to see Smash Mouth! They did an excellent job performing for the audience, even when they were having multiple audio problems throughout. And of course they finished the concert with two of their biggest hits, I’m a Believer and All Star.
SeaWorld’s Bands, Brew, & BBQ event runs on weekends through March 6th. Next weekend will showcase Scotty McCreery and Dennis DeYoung. For February 27 and 28, ALABAMA and Foreigner will be performing. No other names have been announced yet. Event festivities begin at noon with the main concerts at 4pm. And don’t think that because there is beer as a key component to the event that it is adult only. SeaWorld does an astounding job making the Bands, Brew, & BBQ event completely family friendly and perfect for all ages, so bring the family it, enjoy the nice weather, sample some new kinds of BBQ and craft beer, and listen to some great music. You won’t regret it!
