Everything that’s Debuting at Walt Disney World Over the Next Month!
Friday was a busy day for Walt Disney World as they announced opening and premiere dates for all new attractions at all four parks. Here’s the run down in date order!
First up is Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Beginning Friday, May 27th, Summer Awakens at the park as it begins its first ever nighttime offerings for Guests! Premiering on this day is the Kilimanjaro Safaris Nighttime Safaris, Tree of Life Awakenings, as well as the “Wildlife Parti,” a lively party with singers, dancers, and musicians in the Harambe Marketplace, and the Discovery Island Carnivale, where the spirited community of the Island comes together to celebrate their love of the natural world.
The Kilimanjaro Safaris will now take Guests on an extended sunset adventure so they might see the nighttime behavior of the wildlife, as well as two new additions to the safari, hyenas and wild African dogs. This should be quite an interesting ride!
The Tree of Life will also now awaken each night with its very own nighttime projection show. Through magical fireflies, we will get to see animal spirits brought to life as they reveal exciting and colorful stories of wonder, adventure, and the beauty of the natural world! It will definitely be a sight to see.
And if you’re looking for fine dining at the Animal Kingdom Park, Tiffins will be the parks first signature dining restaurant and will also open on May 27th! Here, Guests will be able to explore the world with their palette through dishes inspired by countries around the globe. And don’t forget to quench your thirst at the friendly watering hole next door, the Nomad Lounge, Tiffins own bar where Guests can sample fine wines and cocktails from far-off locales like Africa and Asia.
Also debuting at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but a day later on May 28th will be The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic. Filling in for what looks like the entire Summer as the parks main nighttime show until the parks true show, Rivers of Light, can premiere, Animal Kingdom’s Discovery River will also awaken each night to become a stunning spectacle show inspired by the new live-action hit film, Disney’s The Jungle Book. The show will feature key moments from the film while providing music and special effect which not only celebrate the movie, but also combine an Indian influence throughout. Even though the show was put together on short notice, it should still be quite entertaining because that movie was incredible.
Next up is actually a triple header! Three attractions, at three different parks, all debuting on the same day. On June 17th at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we will be getting two brand new shows and a new-ish ride!
At the Magic Kingdom, the new Castle stage show, “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” is debuting much sooner than expected. Replacing the very popular Dream Along with Mickey show, the new show will bring some of Disney’s newest classics to life right one stage. Featuring The Princess & the Frog, Tangled, and Frozen characters, the new show will have an original song, some of our favorite music, exciting dancing, and magical speical effects.
In “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire,” Mickey and his troupe of Merry Makers have been preparing to host a joyous festival and have ventured far and wide to invite friends from other lands to join their celebration. From the Land of the Bewitching Bayous, Goofy has invited Tiana, Naveen and Louis to add a little spice of New Orleans jazz to the party. From the Land of the Enchanted Woods, Donald Duck brings some new friends he met at the Snuggly Duckling, and Daisy introduces us to her special guests, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Finally, Mickey shares a surprise with Minnie, as he has traveled to the Land of the Mystic Mountains to invite Olaf, Anna, and Elsa, who contributes a blast of her icy magic. It all culminates in a grand dance, as the Merry Makers invite all their special guests to join in the fun on this special day in the Magic Kingdom!
Right next door at Epcot, Guests will finally get to experience Soarin’ Around the World! The original attraction closed for refurbishment back in January and is returning with a third screen, HD projection, and an all new video. The new film also premieres at Disney’s California Adventure park on the same day, a day after Shanghai Disneyland. The new film will now take Guests to exotic locations around the world. Specifics haven’t been announced yet, but if you think real hard, I’m sure you could come up with a few ideas of what you might see!
If you’re a broken hearted fan of the original Soarin’ Over California, don’t worry! You’ll have one last chance to experience the original ride before the new one premieres. From May 27th to June 16th, Disney announced they will be showing the original video of Soarin’ until the new one premieres on June 17th. So hurry in!
Lastly for June 17th at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the third rendition of their Star Wars fireworks show will be premiering! Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular will be unlike an other fireworks display we’ve seen to date. The intensive new show will combine fireworks, pyrotechnics, projections, and special effect to turn the Chinese Theater and possibly the buildings surrounding it into objects and locations from the Star Wars universe! The show will of course feature music from the film saga and will even feature a tower of fire and spotlight beams to create a larger than life lightsaber in the sky! The new show should be truly awe inspiring.
Last, but not least, we head back to Epcot for June 21st! The ever so anticipated and loathed new attraction, Frozen Ever After and its conjoined shopping and character area, Royal Sommerhus, opens on this day in the Norway pavilion.
Frozen Ever After, which replaced the beloved Maelstrom, will take Guests on an adventurous boat tour through the kingdom of Arendelle. Here, they first meet Elsa celebrating the “Summer Snow Day” event where she uses her newly embraced powers to created a wonderful “Winter-in-summer” day for the entire kingdom. Soon, Guests pass Troll Valley on their way up the North Mountain to Queen Elsa’s Ice Palace before their return to the Bay of Arendelle. It should be a fun and cute ride.
Next door at the Royal Sommerhus, Anna Elsa will have a new summer home where they will be able to greet Guests! The Norway Pavilion will now open at 9am, like Future World and its attractions, while the rest of the World Showcase continues to open at 11am.
So there it is! Lots happening over the next month at Walt Disney World. Which are you most excite for?
