Photo Report: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2016
It’s September in Orlando and that means Halloween season is here! Mickeiy’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party began even earlier this year on Friday, September 2nd giving us more parties than ever and we had a chance to go on September 13th. It started out with beautiful weather, but around 6, the clouds started rolling in. I dreaded the worst and feared we’d be repeated our disaster of a party from last year, but alas after 2 1/2 hours of rain, it cleared up and we were able to do everything we wanted to!
If you’ve never been to a MNSSHP before, it’s packed with a special parade (IMO, the best WDW has to offer), a special Celebrate the Magic and fireworks show named HalloWishes, set to Disney villain songs, a fantastic stage show themed after Hocus Pocus starring the Sanderson Sisters themselves, and all the Trick or Treating you could want! Plus, with a cap on attendance, many of the queue wait times are much shorter than usual, if non-exisitent. And don’t forget about the special character meet and greets scattered throughout the park!
I always love the pumpkins sitting outside the train station. Can’t wait to carve my own.
You can never go wrong with the Town Square decorations! The party had a special entrance for its guests this year. I thought it was great since it helped us avoid the crowds exiting the park. Here is where you got your trick or treat bag and even a special candy bag to start you off!
I’m in love with this year’s bag! I already own the Beauty and the Beast bluray and can’t wait for Moana this fall!
Of course I got the special Sorcerer’s of the Magic Kingdom card, featuring Zootopia. One of the best animated films of the year.
This year’s map with all of the special treats you can purchase around the park.
Next, it was time to meet Jack and Sally. I tried to meet them last year, but due to incorrect information given to meet at the main gate, it became impossible. They start to meet two hours before the begins, at 5pm. I got in line at 4:30 and met them ar9ound 5:50pm, to give you an idea of how long the line was. It really wasn’t a bad wait. This year they meet in Liberty Square where Princess Tiana used to meet. When you enter the line, you are given an autograph card.
We were lucky enough to even get video of meeting them. Jack and Sally are among the most popular meet and greets at MNSSHP, so be sure to get in line early!
Me? I’m a sucker for merchandise. I’m an even bigger sucker for Halloween (and Christmas) merchandise! And this year, Disney seems to have outdone themselves by offering a large variety of Halloween merchandise for us to purchase inside the Emporium at Magic Kingdom. I’m always a fan of the classic coloring of Halloween decorations. Keep an eye out for the special MNSSHP tee shirts. One if specifically for APs. There also seems to be a lot more Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise than usual.
I tried to get some pictures of the Celebrate the Magic show with my new camera. They turned out pretty good.
Immediately following the Celebrate the Magic show is HalloWishes. This is MNSSHP’s fireworks show set to Disney villain songs and hosted by our Ghost Host from the Haunted Mansion.
Afterward, we tried to see the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular stage show, but due to the weather, it was delayed and then the condensed rain show was performed. Most likely due to the stage not being completely dry. The condensed show begins immediately with the Sanderson Sisters coming out and then introducing each villain one by one. Right after, they sing the finale song and end the show. It was cute and if you didn’t know any better, it would be just like the Villains Tonight show we used to have.
Thankfully, we got to see the second parade in full. (The first was delayed and cancelled.)
And of course, most people’s favorite part of the Boo to You parade is the Grave Diggers.
After the parade, we continued getting our candy for a little bit until the midnight show of Hocus Pocus. And then we found Lotso in Tomorrowland. I don’t think I could have been more excited.
This year, they offered the Hocus Pocus show at midnight which took me by surprise since usually they want to get Guests out of the park. Since our first show was condensed, we decided to hang out for the final show! It was just as good as we remembered it.
And at last, another year ends at MNSSHP. We had a great time. The entertainment was great, the rain let up, and we got all the candy we could want.
See you next year!
