BREAKING: Magic Kingdom to Debut ‘New’ Castle Projection Show on Nov. 4th
I’m very excited to write about Disney’s newest announcement! Today, the Disney Parks Blog announced today the 4 year old castle projection show, Celebrate the Magic, will be ending its run on November 3rd and will be replaced with a new show titled Once Upon a Time on November 4th. Check out the official announcement below.
In this new show, Mrs. Potts from Beauty and the Beast shares bedtime stories with Chip, taking them (and all of us) on a magical trip through the most adventurous scenes from favorite Disney films like Cinderella, PeterPan, Alice in Wonderland and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
Scenes that are expected to be guest-favorites include a flight with Peter Pan from London to Never Land, the Mad Hatter’s whimsical tea party, and a daring duel between Gaston and Beast. Mrs. Potts and Chip end their bedtime story with a grand finale that includes appearances by characters from even more Disney films.
The show, which was inspired by one of a similar name at Tokyo Disneyland Park, uses projection mapping technology to cover every nook and cranny of Cinderella Castle in vibrant images that appear almost three-dimensional.
As you see, the show is a version of an already existing show from Tokyo Disneyland, so it’s not completely new, but it’s new for us. So this is still exciting because I feel the Celebrate the Magic show has grown a little stale and I’m still a bit salty over the fact the original show, The Magic, The Memories, and You (a show which truly was different each night) only lasted one year. Even though this new show is ‘inspired’ by an existing one, the recent refurbishment of the projection cameras was in no doubt preparation for this new show, and hey, if we can’t get a new nighttime parade, at least we can get a slightly recycled projection show. I can’t wait to see it on November 4th as I’m sure it’ll be gorgeous!
