Muppets Courtyard Being Renamed to Fit with Grand Avenue Theme
If you haven’t already heard, Disney has kept a portion of Streets of America and is renaming it Grand Avenue. The sole purpose of the street is to be a built-in queue line for the new land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. However, that’s not all that will be there.
Themed to the current vibrant culture life of downtown Los Angeles, Grand Avenue will display vintage office buildings and warehouse which are being converted for exciting new uses. Opening later this year, guests will see facades for “merchants” appearing in this area for a music shop, loft apartments, a tailor, and more, with each window showcasing is own unique display.
A highlight of this new ‘land’ will be the Baseline Tap House, which is replacing the Writer’s Stop. This new corner pub will feature California craft beers and wines, as well as a small variety of appetizers, such a pretzels and a cheese board. This was all announced last month, but the surprise turn of events is what is happening with Muppets Courtyard.
The recently named Muppets Courtyard will be renamed once again and become Grand Park, an urban square off of Grand Avenue surrounded by shops and restaurants like PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano.
Changes have already been made to the area when Muppets Theater was renamed to the Grand Arts Theatre and a new marquee put in it’s place. But so far, there is no need to worry about Muppet-Vision 3D, as that is expected to remain, at least for now – especailly since they just revamped the quick service location to PizzeRizzo.
And while Mama Melrose’s does fit perfectly fine in this location as it is Italian food with a California spin, I can’t help but think YET AGAIN the quick service location does not fit in its area since it is themed to a New York City pizza restaurant…. But that’s just me.
